Vichy Normaderm Global Anti-imperfection Hydrating Care
Having heard amazing things about Vichy’s Normaderm range, I’ve been meaning to try their stuff for like forever! Hmm…why does it sound like I’ve been saying this about every product I’ve bought lately :-/ Anyways, I was torn between the Night cream and this one and finally decided to go for the Day cream. I thought to myself, “This doesn’t have SPF so it’ll double up as a night cream as well. Plus, I can use it as a base for my foundation. I’ll even use this under that patchy and overly drying BB cream. Genius I am!†:nerd: Or am I?? ?:-) You’ll soon find out…
About Vichy Normaderm Global Anti-imperfection Hydrating Care :
Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care is an all-in-one daily-use care to: treat imperfections, provide 24 hour hydration and leave a long lasting matte finish. Its unique Hydra Peeling technology is a new association of 3 peeling ingredients in daily hydrating care (salicyclic acid, glycolic acid, LHA). LHA is a patented ingredient that helps gently micro-exfoliate the surface of the skin for a smoother surface and uniform complexion. Purifying salicylic acid targets pores and helps break down blackheads and whiteheads by gently microexfoliating the top layer of skin and clearing blocked pores. Glycolic acid naturally neutralises bacteria that cause imperfections. The three ingredients are combined in a hydrating emulsion-gel texture that is quickly absorbed into the skin and provides a matte finish.

It comes in a white squeezy tube with a lime-green cap screw cap that is completely leak-proof. Although the packaging appears simple there’s something quite catchy bout that lovely fresh green. It has a precision-nozzle that I really like. Thanks to the nozzle, I can even apply the product directly onto my face without having to squeeze some onto my palm/finger first. The outer carton has the complete ingredients list and the product description in given in a mind-boggling array of languages. :hypnotized: I had to hunt around quite a bit to spot the English description. :search: Since this is the 30ml trial version, it comes in a tube. The regular size that contains 50 ml of product comes in a sturdy bottle with a nice pump dispenser.
Aah this is what I love the most about this cream. It has lovely mild yet refreshing fragrance that is quite fruity but not the strong kins. Its smells of melons and I adore it! The sad part is that the scent does not linger and fades within minutes. This may be good news for those who prefer unscented products.
Color & Consistency:
The cream is white in color and has a gel-crème consistency. It is pretty lightweight but I find it a bit tricky to blend since I can’t seem to spread it over a large area. If I don’t work quickly, it all just sinks into one small area before I can blend it further (particularly on dry skin).
My experience with Vichy Normaderm Global Anti-imperfection Hydrating Care :
Normaderm products are easily available online but I wanted to test them at a store before I got one for myself (particularly to lap up the freebies 😀 But Sshhh that’s a secret between you and me :quiet: ). The S.A applied some on my arm and proceeded to blend it. The first thing I noticed was that it did not sink in completely. When I told her about it, she remarked that the amount used was actually enough to cover the entire face and that there was too much product on my hand that made it appear greasy. I believed her since I also suspected that all the lipstick-swatching I’d done just seconds before I headed to the Vichy counter may have been the culprit.:shy: Also, having fallen for the lovely fragrance, I made my purchase. Wrong move!! I realized it much, much later though :struggle:
It was winter when I‘d started using this cream and so the weather was relatively dry. I have very oily, acne-prone skin (yeah, yeah, you’re bored of hearing me repeat that in every review  ) and I hardly ever experience dryness on my face even in winter. This cream glided onto my skin with ease and began to sink in before I could even spread it evenly. I thought “Wow! This is so lightweight and non-greasy.†But the bad news is that I was using up so much of product in a single use that I was afraid this tube would barely last me 2 weeks. I’ve heard RAVE reviews of this product and waited for it to work its magic. I waited…and I waited…and then I waited some more.
After about 2 weeks I realized that there were no results whatsoever!! It did not clear my acne. It did not prevent breakouts. I was hoping this would refine pores but it didn’t do anything of the sort. My blemishes remained just as bad as ever. To top it all, once summer showed up, this cream simply refused to sink into my skin. It would just sit on top forming a sticky layer making me look not dewy but greasy. Hulloooo where’s the matte-effect?? The shine it created made my skin appear dull. And now, the LAST thing I wanted to do is attempt it as a make-up base.
Hoping against hope that this would at least work as a night cream, I slathered it on and hit the bed. At night, it seemed to sink in better and felt light but by morning, I looked like… well… wait, lemme think of some overly shiny round thing :-/ Okay, I can only think of the moon now but the moon is a pretty sight, right? But my face was greasy but that’s again fine since most creams do that. What I hated was that whole nights (yeah, many nights) with the cream on, had no effect whatsoever. The only saving grace was that this did not break me out.
All confused, I checked online and to my horror I realized that I’d bought the wrong product! :pain: I actually wanted to try the Tri-Activ anti-imperfection hydrating care. Having done my research before getting the cream, I did notice the change in packaging at the store. But the entire range has been revamped so I’d assumed this was the same stuff in new clothing 😛 Wrong! This particular product has been getting awful reviews 😥 The problem is that products in the Normaderm range have veryyyy similar sounding names, but in reality, they’re entirely different from each other. Even the night cream has 2 variants which you can differentiate only by reading both the names atleast thrice until it registers :-/ So, in other words, if you happen to spot the word “Global†on the packaging, run a mile!!
What I like about Vichy Normaderm Global Anti-imperfection Hydrating Care :
- Hygienic, easy to use, travel-friendly packaging
- Also available in a sturdy, pump packaging (containing 50 ml)
- Amazingly refreshing fragrance that is not overpowering
- Hypoallergenic and is free from Silicones and Parabens
- Suitable for sensitive skin. Does not sting or burn even when used or broken or irritated skin.
- Lightweight hydration for oily skin in winters
What don’t I like about Vichy Normaderm Global Anti-imperfection Hydrating Care :
- Does not sink in completely in warm weather and forms a sticky layer on the surface of the skin
- Does nothing for existing acne
- Does nothing for blemishes
- Does nothing for open pores
- Does not control oil or keep skin matte
- Does not prevent breakouts
- Is not moisturizing enough for dry skin and is too greasy for oily skin
- No SPF
- All products in the Normaderm range have similar sounding names making it difficult to distinguish one product from another
Rating: 2/5 Would have rated it a tad higher if not for the price tag and the tall claims
Anti-imperfection? If you see the pics below, you’ll note that this “highlights†imperfections and makes my skin appear dark and dull thanks to its overly dewy finish.
If you have sensitive skin or are allergic to a host of ingredients, this moisturizer may be safe to use since it is free from Parabens and Silicones (but do note that this does contain salicyclic acid that may lead to breakouts initially in certain skin types if they’re not accustomed to it). It is a nice, lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer for oily skin in winters. In summers…don’t even think about it! In humid weather, this imparts a dewy finish, coupled with an inability to sink into the skin completely making this uncomfortable to wear. Overall, soooo not worth it! 700 odd bucks for a cream that claims to do a million things but manages to only moisturize?? No thank you! :stop: There are loads of better options out there. Sorry….am just bummed out that out of all the gazillion amazing products that Vichy dishes out, I had to go and get the ONE and only dud in the entire line! 😥 Now please excuse me while I go and bang my head on the wall
