I have used few Vichy products few years back when I was in my college. My skin that time was severly oil and acne prone. We had this little store in our new mall which has special Vichy counter which looked very attractive.SA of Vichy were of pleasing personality and one of them suggested me Vichy purifying cleanser that time. That time product worked great for my skin and I also used tri active moisturiser also with it and it made my skin baby soft and reduces acne and blemishes also and that time it didn’t dry out my face too.

This time while visiting Vichy in Health and Glow of Hyderabad, I saw the product on an offer price of Rs 390 instead of 490 and it made me nostalgic.I immediately picked it up but now my experience is altogether different.

Vichy Normaderm Purifying cleansing gel Review+anti acne gel

Product comes in two sizes one in 100ml tube which I picked up and another in 200ml pump bottle which costs INR990.It comes in a transparent gel which is thin in texture and lathers well.It smells nice and gives  a fresh feeling.

Cleansers for acne+Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel

My experience with Vichy Normaderm Purifying cleansing gel Review

With time my skin is now combination oil and suffers from acne and gives me greasy feeling every now and then.I most of the time wake up with an oily face and when I use my lush cleanser it removes of the oil for few hours. When I used Vichy Normaderm purifying cleansing gel it severely dried my skin and it made me feel stretchy .Product isn’t as good as it used to be and my face started flaking right after 2-3 usage.

Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel for acne prone skin

I feel this cleanser is better suited for those who have oily skin to an extent that they don’t prefer using any moisturizer on their face. For people with dry skin, using this product can be quite a disaster .

Recommendation

  • For severly   Oily acne prone skin – Yes
  • For combination, normal, dry skin – No

  1. I used Vichy products long back..like 3 -4 years…i felt they are just over priced and do nothing special..so i finished it ad went back to my usual stuff abck then..but i liked this face wash of theirs. Didnot dry out and yes i remember it in a pump dispenser..this is new..

  2. I’ve never tried anything from Vichy..not even 1 teensy weensy product.. πŸ™‚ i guess for combi skinned ppl we wud have to use the dry skin products since the results seem to be quite extreme..

  3. zara and amamika u both r impelling me to buy lush products , tell me some of their good stuff … For ur information, i have super oily skin in summers, normal in winters bt throughtout the yr it is highly acne prone like i have applied any ANYTHING and i got that tiny miny acne , these acne not shown until u see them very closely , even fab india vit e cream dont suits me yaar ……… πŸ˜₯ πŸ˜₯ πŸ˜₯ do some help

  4. I used the entire range of anti blemish from Vichy..i used their White range which claomed to remove marks and blemishes..but it didnot work at all…maybe i will use their corrective cosmetics..like what Tanz said , concealor which will also help improve skin texture.. 😐

      • Kaash BB cream India mein aa jata…

Not long time Zara…i used their Ant blemish range…spent a crazy amount in their Cleanser, Serum, Night cream and corrective cream….nothing except their cleanser i liked…but yeah kaafi dino tak chali thi creams..

        • πŸ™ just one product worked? They seem to hav more misses than hits…Kya faida to sell such things for such high amount..

            • Mee too..They have such fancy and sophisticated looking counters and prices r so high that i automatically think that for the price this HAS to work..but i guess thats not so..koi koi brands only do things for show..

  5. I have been using the entire Normaderm range off and on (mostly on) for the past 4years. Face wash, toner, day cream, night cream. I also use the sunblock from Vichy.
My experience has been very good with Normaderm, mostly because I fit the profile (oily, acne prone skin) and know what to expect (baby soft skin- only happens to babies; clear, radiant skin with reduced imperfections- yeah). My experience is that Normaderm works very well for oily skin prone with mild-moderate acne and delivers well. However, if you have severe acne, you will do better with prescritption grade meds (my off period).
Overall, ever since I have used Normaderm, the frequency and degree of breakout have reduced significantly. The day is cream is not that mattifying for me in peak summers as my skin goes on an overdrive. The pore reducing property of Normaderm was minimal. But the fact that it has stopped my frequnt breakouts and changed the texture of my skin is something that I am very pleased with.I never had that with any other product unless you are talk about pumping your body with toxic antibiotics and retinoids.

  6. prerna which product/s do u like the most from normaderm range , i m using their triactiv moisturiser bt i m feeling that i m getting mild acne by it :-/ bt m confused …..do u have the same experience?

    • Hi Nidhi!

If you are a recent user, you must be using their new “Tri Active” formula that has 3peeling agents in it. They have not said it in their product description, but generally peeling agents intially have an effect of increasing the lesions (something about bringing out the existing lesions / declogging your skin) that should settle in a few days.
I have just started using this new formulation (4days). There is very mild skin peeling I am experiencing, but no new lesions. I suggest you give it a week or two before giving up on it. These things take time.
I hope Normaderm works for you like it has for me. I started with the day cream and then graduated to night cream to face wash to toner.
Good luck and do let all of us know how it worked for you πŸ™‚

      • prerna i m using it by last 2 weeks , sometimes i skip it in morning b/a i feel it makes my skin oily instead of mattifying , i too have heard that salicylic acid brings ur deeper zits to ur surface , is that true?or i m allergic to some of its ingrediends, well i have not seen any obsrervable peeling effect …

        • Well Nidhi, I agree with you that it does not really give a mattifying effect, esp in the peak summers. As for making the skin oily, my skin is oily anyways. The day cream did not make my skin any oilier than it already was.
And all that you heard about Salicyclic acid is true, but that is just it’s mechanism of action and after all that muck comes up on the surface, the skin clears up.
Vichy is supposed to be hypoallergenic, but that does not equate to non allergenic. But I don’t suppose it sounds like an allergy, what you have.
I think you should finish at least the tube you got. These things take time, unlike what the labels on the bottle tell you πŸ™‚

Overall, I am very satisfied with Normaderm. It has worked better than Clinique (gave me a baaaaad allergic reaction), Clean and Clear (a joke!), Garnier (stinging toner). But then again, different strokes for different folks πŸ™‚

    • Love that too!! πŸ™‚

The other toners I used (and a ton of so called anti-acne toners) only super stinged or made my skin super oily. The Normaderm one has worked very well for me. It has alcohol though, for astringent effect. Some people refrain from using alcohol based products assigning it’s skin-unfriendly properties. But all the anti-acne toners I have seen in the market invariably have alcohol in it and this (normaderm) is the bestest of all I have tried.

  7. have u heard of La rochay posay toner? i have heard very good review bt that and does vichy toner helps in preventing breakouts or should i go for lush tea tree toner?

    • La Rochay is from the same parent company as Vichy, L’Oreal. The lady at the Vichy counter was trying to get me to buy some La Rochay stuff. La Rochay also has some spa water thing like Vichy.
Before we had Body Shop, Lush etc in India, Shahnaz Hussain and Biotique were the sole players and their anti acne range did nothing for my skin. After that episode, I am kinda skeptical about all “herbal” and “au naturale” products πŸ™„

Do let us know how Lush works for you πŸ™‚

      • same here prerna shahnaj hussian antiacne creams dont suits me too and u r absolutely true all herbal companies we have here basically have the chemical ingredients and we aLL ARE fooled by them ( bt i m expecting the claims of lush to be true)

        • Yeah, most of these herbal stuff have some amount of non herbal chemical in them to make is (more) effective. I really hope Lush and Normaderm work for you πŸ™‚
          (keeping my fingers crossed).
