Virginity question of Extra virgin oil?

Good afternoon guys!!! There was a huge power cut today in our locality and therefore couldn’t post things in the morning which I drafted yesterday.

The so called leader of Olive oil “The Extra virgin Olive oil” is supposed to be the best of oil in terms of its purity and many health qualities .Many of us don’t mind paying extra if the olive oil which we buy is of extra version quality. Nowadays even in India we find lot many companies who are manufacturing this oil but is the oils which we think of using every day in our diet and in our beauty care really virgin?

In India we start our day with adulterated things like milk  or tooth paste having bones powder and in between the day also there are   various things which we eat or apply which are adultrated. This is one of the reasons we don’t get maximum benefit from our herbal remedies.

According to University of California most of the popular and leading brands producing Olive Oil do not meet the requirements of being purely virgin. They are said to be adulterated with low quality oils like hazelnut, safflower, soy bean and even low grade lamp oils.

Leaving behind olive oil even coconut oil which we use every day is not pure. I am in south India now and I have discussed this thing with many of my friends here. Previously everyone at this place had long thick lush hair because they applied coconut oil every day .The quality of coconut oil was pure but now because of adulteration I have seen many man bald here. Forget about man even some of the woman here are bald too.

While thinking on this topic I came to know very interesting thing. My maid and her daughter have long thick black hair. I thought this might be because she is lucky otherwise how can  she have the time to take care of her hair. But when I asked her I was surprised to know that my maid makes her own coconut oil at home and use it in hair and food. She said that both of use this oil and boil curry leaves in it and apply every now and then.I knew this remedy but now I know why it isn’t that effective .The reason is we need to go organic and we need to find products which are actually pure.

So even if we are buying imported olive oil which if I am not wrong cost Rs 1200per kg then also its purity is doubtful but purity and effectiveness of my maids handmade oil is not doubtful at all:)

What do you have to say about this?

  1. I use home-made coconut oil too..:-) though for salads, you really cannot substitute coconut oil for olive oil. I try to look for cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil..written on the label. Beyond that I really have to trust the company 🙁

  23. You have a maid? Are you very rich or is that normal over there?
I wish I could afford one!

I used olive oil once in my hair but I was not satisfied at all, I used the wrong one (just a cooking oil from the kitchen) bc my head got itchy and my hair was acting all weird (it became very static) After that I started to use amla oil but I don't really like the smell and my bf hates the smell so I quit using it. think I should use is again, about once a month.

Never used coconut oil but sounds like it's worth a try!
Wish I was able to make my own!

  36. I don't think you can make it Anamika. Coconuts are crushed in a machine that presses out the oil..that's how its made. However, people who make it at home, do not refine it chemically. It is pure pressed oil thats it.

But that's far, far away. Maybe I'll get a chance to visit sooner. My parents visited a few times in the past but they never took me with them 🙁 Also I don't have any relatives there anymore. But I really would love to visit. It's a must!

Just for the record, Figaro is not a good brand of olive oil. If you can find any olive name 'Extra virgin olive oil' or 'Cold Processed' or 'Cold Produce' on the product, then go for it. There are many available these days.
